She is known for her semi-abstract cityscapes, landscapes and textured forms. Many layers of acrylic paint are used in the works and then acrylic glazes are applied to give the rich vibrant depth of colour.
“I believe that an artwork must speak from the heart and uplift the viewer making them want to look again to see something new and inviting. If I can achieve this, then I feel that I have succeeded.”
Marilyn completed a three year art course in 1999 to 2002, studying Art History, Art Practise and Art Theory and has won several awards over her career. Marilyn’s paintings are in collections in New Zealand and overseas and can be viewed in Christchurch at Artbox Gallery 1/16 Loftus Street, Papanui, Christchurch.
